Planning a fashion shoot outdoors can be tricky if you don’t know what you are doing. A lot of people are afraid of dying their hair or getting sunburnt on the beach. But before you get panicky, relax and read on.
Get hold of your references Before you begin your fashion shoot outdoors it is crucial that you get hold of some good references. Ask your mum, your family and your friends who they use for shoots they did. They will be more than happy to tell you what they were like and will also tell you how their day went!
Plan your clothing Now you need to plan what clothes you are going to wear.
You need to have at least 3 outfits ready so you can give yourself some time to get dressed. You want to make sure your outfit looks polished and professional.
Take a break Don’t spend all your time in the studio.
If you want to get the best results, you can’t just keep putting all your energy into every shot. There’s no point because by the end of the day you’ll be so tired that it’ll be a real shame. Make sure you have a couple of hours at the weekend or whenever you can just relax for a few hours. Take a break and let your hair and face cool down from the heat of the studio.
Take the pressure off Now that you have the perfect clothes and you are all set to go on your fashion shoot, don’t stress out about looking good.
A lot of people think that the more glamorous and amazing they look the better they can do, but in actual fact this makes them look worse! Make sure you enjoy yourself. By the time you’ve got your shoot over you should be feeling a bit more relaxed and ready to have some fun. There’s nothing worse than going on an entire fashion show only to sit in front of a big mirror with your hair in knots and makeup running around you.
Go outdoors Yes, that’s right, it is cold out, but that doesn’t mean that you should not wear clothes. Many fashion shoots take place outdoors because it allows the photographer to capture some wonderful natural light. This is another reason why many fashion shows take place outdoors as well. Bring some extra winter clothes or a light jacket to let Mother Nature warm you up.
Be confident One of the most important things when shooting in the great outdoors is confidence.
After all, fashion is all about being comfortable and keeping your cool. If you don’t feel confident on the big stage then you won’t do very well when trying to capture some wonderful fashion images. Spend some time outside shooting some shots of yourself in your bathing suit, at the beach, laying poolside, or even dancing the night away. The bottom line is that if you don’t feel like doing something that usually makes you uncomfortable, chances are, you won’t do it at all.

It can be hard to capture your fashion dreams when you work inside, but the outdoors can really help you get there. Plus, it’s a great place for some downtime from work, which is something that everybody needs as well.
